Octavious Jones

Sculpture at Concordia University. Octavious was first recognized for his Readymade Amphibious Creatures and has since developed an array of artworks, including interactive installations, bronze sculptures, a fountain, paintings, and much more. Most notably, Octavious exhibited a series of magnets frozen in ice. With paintings hanging in collections across North America, Jones provides a dynamic experience for every environment.

An Octavious Jones painting cannot be experienced from a static position; the colors are coordinated to convince the viewer to move around it. The people become aware of the space and their bodies related to the colors of the painting. An acrylic painting by Octavious Jones offers the opportunity for people to reflect on their individual experiences. Continuing ideas from “Interaction of Color” by Josef Albers as well as “Ways of Seeing” by John Berger, Jones paints precise yet chaotic compositions that act as a mirror.
